If you are looking for information about the beautiful real estate market in Studio City, you have come to the right place. In the decade of the 1920’s, film maker Mack Sennett filmed many silent movies in the area, thus generating the name, Studio City. At the time, Studio City was one of the few communities of the San Fernando Valley to have any real activity other than farming or orchard groves. The area is nestled in the Southeast portion of the San Fernando Valley, 12 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Studio City encompasses the northern slopes of the Santa Monica mountains. It’s central location gave easy access to the Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles and the Valley. Much like Tarzana Real Estate, Studio City offers a wide variety of homes for sale, the best local schools and local entertainment.

Sennett built sound stages in Studio City, and they have been in continuously used by the CBS Studios ever since. At that time, Ventura Blvd. was a country road, and the only commerce in the Studio City Business District was a small bank, a country store, a drug store, a couple of hamburger stands and a small assortment of other businesses.
In June, 1927, news broke that a new company was set up to develop movie company sites. The Central Motion Picture District had arranged for a $20,000,000 development at the corner of Ventura and what is now Laurel Canyon Blvd. That began the first phase of the Mack Sennett Studio, a 200 acre project, that in 1935 became Republic Studios.
