The San Fernando Valley is a wonderful place to live.  There is a population of about 1,808,599 residents as of the 2004 census data out of 4,021,611 occupying some 345 square miles of area.  Thus, the San Fernando Valley population is almost 45% of the total population of the City of Los Angeles.  The San Fernando Valley became a part of the City of Los Angeles when it was annexed in 1915.  The city of Los Angeles covers approximately 746 square miles, so the San Fernando Valley represents almost half of the geographical area.

What makes the San Fernando Valley a great place to live?  We have an abundance of good weather all year long to enjoy the outdoors, the Santa Monica Mountains, lakes, recreation areas, movie studios and entertainment.  The Valley is home to Universal Studios City Walk and Universal Studios, Warner Brothers Studios and CBS Studios.  Disney Studios and Dream Works Studios, while technically not in the San Fernando Valley, are in the Burbank/Glendale area adjacent to the southeastern part of the SFV.   In addition, there are many recording studios and music companies.  Add to the mix, manufacturing companies, small business from warehousing and distribution to retailer of all varieties and there is a strong economic engine.  The Valley is home to dozens of Zagat Rated Restaurants, theaters, clubs and caberets.  Many Golf Courses exist for sport along with numerous Parks and Recreation Centers.  The San Fernando Valley is home the Tilman Water Reclamation plant located in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area, which includes the Japanese Tea House and Gardens.

The Valley is home to 3 airports.  Van Nuys Airport is the busiest General Aviation Airport in the world!  The airport is located on 730 acres and has more that 100 businesses surrounding it.  There are nearly 500,000 take offs and landings each year at the airport.  Burbank Airport is a regional Airport adjacent to North Hollywood with over 5 million passengers per year.  Whiteman Air Park located in the northeast of the SFV is a small private aviation airstrip.
